My youngest had his 4th grade "Memory Day" (4th grade singing performance and slide show), now they are ready to move to the Middle School and 5th grade next year. Then his Major Farm baseball team won their first game against an undefeated team. Now we're 1-5 (but they're starting to "get it"). Then after my daughter got home from the monthly dance, we had a little fire in the back yard and the kids made s'mores and burned some wood. Every one had a great time and everyone is happy and healthy. It was just one of those "perfect" days...

Daddy got to drink several beers and laugh and joke and just enjoy himself.

Back in March, my car alarm went off around 1:30 in the morning. Slept most of the way through it and it timed-out (aka stopped on it's own) before I...

Back in March, my car alarm went off around 1:30 in the morning. Slept most of the way through it and it timed-out (aka stopped on it's own) before I could disable it. After checking it out, there was no message displayed in the DIC about it.

Then in April, the same day of the month and everything, the same thing happened, alarm goes off at 1:30 am, I didn't disable in time, yadda yadda, no DIC Message.

Two Thursdays ago, about two weeks after the April incident, It did it again. And at the SAME time of the night, around 1:30.

To Note: I bought my car used, and it had an aftermarket alarm system installed. I originally thought this aftermarket system was interfering with the factory system.

Last Tuesday, it went off 6 times in a 5 hour span, 4 of which were in the last hour and a half of that time frame. Hell, at one point it was going off every 20 mins like clockwork.

Yesterday I took my car to a local Buick/GMC dealership (used to service Pontiacs too) and had the aftermarket alarm system removed from my car so the factory system could be tested without any kind of interference from the aftermarket system.

After they got the aftermarket system removed, they did troubleshooting on the factory system, and everything checked out 'OK'.

I took my car home, parked it, and armed the system.

At 4:22 am, the alarm went off. I got out of bed, got my keys and turned it off.

At 5:06 am, it went off again. I did the same thing again - this time I just left the thing unlocked.

Went to leave for work this morning, tried to remote start my car and voilą, remote start does not work. Parking lights blink like the car accepts the command, then does nothing. Starter solenoid doesn't even click.

Has anyone heard of these cars doing this?

I am at wits end with this thing and almost felt like literally kicking my window in this morning. It's sad that these amazing cars have to have nagging issues that pretty much ruin the joy of ownership.

Any help would be tremendously appreciated!

My detailer is also a modder at his place of business. He says that he can repaint (has on other cars) the front black plastic and rear diffuser to match the color to the car. He then described the process of de-griming the plastic of any detailer preservative, light sand if needed, prime with a special adhesive primer, color coat and four layers of clear coat. Of course, he will remove the parts from the car first. And here is my concern, are there published diagrams/instructions on removing the front fog plastic grill and rear diffuser? Also, would you do both front and rear or only front? And has anyone had good/bad issues with this process? Thanks - Panzer
