Default Symptoms of Bad Harmonic Balancer

When I open the hood of my car while it's running, I notice a good bit of wobble at the main harmonic balancer. Doesn't seem as normal as anything I've ever seen in a car before. I'll try to take some video.

So, if it's wobbling too much or going bad, how would I know?

Also, I'm taking a long shot but could a harmonic balancer wobbling too much or going bad cause some of the infamous shakes some of these G8's (like mine) have experienced? My car is NEVER smooth-feeling anymore. I'm wondering if this could be the reason?

What do you guys think? Am I just being a G8 Hypochondriac?

I read in the forum a long time ago that a slight wobble should not be grave concern, but that might have been for after market balancers only. I assume you have alrady checked your bolt and that it is torqued down.

Nope. Haven't even thought of checking that. Sounds like I should. Thx!

But I spend my life for hours at a time, day after day, between 65 and 80 mph in this car and the shakes and vibration get maddening after a bit.

10.x (soon to be 9.9 seconds) of controlled chaos is much more fun! LOL.

It is good to know that yours is holding up with a slight wobble. Sounds like mine shouldn't grenade then.

    Tom,

Here is the video. Between seconds 27-32 and 46-49 you can see the wobble pretty good.
