Thread: Anyone here with a Cobalt SS?

Default Anyone here with a Cobalt SS?

After seeing Chris' (GTPPRIX) Cobalt SS and doing a few in the shop, I picked up a new one for a DD and I must say, I'm impressed with it for what it is.

With 300 miles on the odometer we tuned it, here are the results. I'm amazed at the difference. Now it spins through 1st and 2nd and even if you're rolling in second and get on it as soon as it hits boost it spins.

Not bad for just a tune.

Wow. I didn't know that they would pick up that much power with the tune. Those things must be torque monsters considering their weight.

It made 15 lbs. of boost stock and 20 lbs. with the tune.

It handles really well and can easily put a hurtin' on a new Mustang GT I've definitely surprised some unsuspecting cars

It also has launch control and a no-lift shift feature that holds boost and rpm on the shift.

Very nice car. It's putting out almost as much as a stock G8 GT for cryin' out loud. I'm sure there are a lot of cars including a stock G8 you could walk. What's it weigh and what do you think it will turn in the 1/4? Now I want to trade in my G8 to get one!

Those are great numbers for just a tune. I used to have an 04 SRT-4 with bolt-ons and a tune. It made 320/360 and ran a 12.5 at 118. Bolt up some drag radials on there and you will put a hurtin on alot more than just GT's.

This is not to offend anyone with these cars but that would be a down grade.

It's FWD, smaller, and we are faster stock...

Nice gains regardless. Have you done this tune for a Solstice/Sky 2.0L T? I would be interested to see their gains since I'm sure they hook up better and weigh around the same.

I sat in one of those before I got my G8. It was a red Solstice GXP. I am going to try to find one of those used in the next few years. That would be a neat little toy.

Is yours an S/C'd Cobalt or a new Turbo 2.0? I'm hearing a lot of good things about the Turbo 2.0s recently. With a pulley, and supporting mods, the S/C'd models can book as well.
